“Testifying today at the City Council Meeting was a perfect opportunity to oppose the initiative to increase Minimum Wage above current legislated levels, and also add Sick Leave Policy which is paid by the employer and creates further financial stressors–beyond the scope of current laws.

“With cuts to home care programs, loss of the Companionship Exemption, and the already legislated increases in Minimum Wage starting this year, it is impossible to afford any additional increases in costs without jeopardizing care for those most vulnerable, namely seniors, disabled, and children with disabilities.”

“It was a sincere pleasure speaking with Ciy Council President Todd Gloria, who appears to be seeking ideas and solutions to help reduce potential unintended consequences of the proposed initiatives,” says Edwards-Tate.
