Elder abuse is growing 20 percent every year. I’m Laurie Edwards-Tate, with “LifeCycles.”

There are warning signs: unexplained physical injuries or infections… sudden or chronic weight loss not related to health issues… signs of physical abuse. Withdrawal, depression, and isolation can mean emotional abuse. Be alert to new friends, loaning money or unusual spending that could mean financial abuse.

Elder abuse should be reported immediately. Call Adult Protective Services at 800-510-2020, or District Attorney’s Elder Abuse Unit at 619-531-4040.
