What’s the most dangerous room in your home? I’m Laurie Edwards-Tate with LifeCycles.

Most of us would probably guess the kitchen because of heat sources like the oven and stove. But it is actually the bathroom. About 235-thousand people over age 15 visit emergency rooms because of injuries suffered in the bathroom, and one in eight are hospitalized. More than a third of these injuries happen while bathing or showering.

Bathroom injuries increase with age, and happen to more women than men.  Decrease your risk by installing grab bars inside the tub and shower and by the toilet. Get a shower chair. Make sure rugs and floors are non-slip.  Use caution around water and soaps that make surfaces slippery.
