Waves of college students and young adults are moving back in with Mom and Dad. Should you let them? I’m Laurie Edwards-Tate with “LifeCycles.”
It’s hard to say no when a child asks to move back in. It can work IF you follow these ground rules. Set boundaries and don’t feel guilty about it. It is your home. But allow your kids to plan their own lives. Understand they may make different choices than you might. Help them in a way that lets them develop self-sufficiency and pride in their accomplishments. Prepare them for the world by letting them fail once in a while, instead of jumping in to save them. Respect and communication goes a long way.
