If you are a caregiver, you have some famous company. I’m Laurie Edwards-Tate with “LifeCycles.”
Several people who are well known for their public achievements have also spoken publicly about their roles as caregivers. Maria Shriver helped care for her father who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. Princess Yasmin Aga Khan cared for her mother, actress Rita Hayworth, who suffered from dementia. Susan Boyle cared for her mother until her death at 91. Two years later, Susan appeared on “Britain’s Got Talent” and became an international star. Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter cared for her father who had terminal leukemia, and her mother who died at 94. She wrote a book on caregiving titled “Helping Yourself Help Others.” We admire and salute all caregivers, famous or not.
