One in ten American workers is a caregiver. Caregiving issues hurt productivity. Businesses lose 29 billion dollars every year due to competing demands of work and caregiving. One in every ten caregivers quits their job. Employers learned that child care benefits helped them retain quality employees. Employers should consider offering dependent care benefits, which could include children, elderly, or disabled. During tough times it may seem too costly, but the cost of doing nothing is much too high for everyone.
